On RedHat/Fedora, I can exclude packages from being updated like this:
"yum --exclude -y upgrade".
Can someone please tell me (or provide a link to it) if this is also
possible with apt-get. Reading the apt-get manpage, I didn't find an
equality.

I can boot into Rescue mode from DVD. I managed to restore a Fedora
machine by booting into Rescue mode from DVD, so I figure Debian can do
the same. Or not?

Hi,
My AthlonXP running Debian Etch, had a spontaneous reboot and now shows
Grub error 2. I can't edit menu.lst because all I get is:
GRUB Loading stage1.5
GRUB loading
Error 2.
I can't even press Esc to edit the boot menu.
I booted into rescue mode, but now grub is only on dvd. Unless
Ok, problem solved by adding either socket:// in case of JetDirect or lpd://
in case of unix-server in front of the queue-name.
