Now I know how to reproduce the bug:
- Plug in my external HDD
- Right click on the side bar of Nautilus -> choose "Safely remove"
- System freezes
That's it. The bug happen with or without Compiz enabled

Dear Juan,
My video card is Radeon HD 3450.
I'm not sure what driver I'm using. How do I know that?
I tried to install a proprietary driver from AMD's site in my previous
installation but the performance was terrible so I didn't u

I reset my PC already and currently I don't know how to reproduce that
bug. Actually that bug doesn't occur so often that I can actively

I was on my graphical desktop with Compiz enabled. When it got frozen,
I couldn't do anything on my PC. I didn't try to login remotely

Hi all,
I'm using Debian Squeeze with Gnome. Just 30mins ago, my desktop got
frozen. I don't know why. I must reset my PC by holding power button
to force shutting down. This happened several times before. I guess
Gnome is not working fine enough, but I have no evidences.

yes I mean "without". I mean, users unnecessarily know whether they are
using a script or not to open that file. If there's a support
software/script/or whatever installed, then simple just double-click to open
if it's the default action. Explicitly choosing the script name under
"Scripts" submenu
like "Mount ISO file"
or even double click on that iso file to mount by default?
Thank you very much,

Dear Stan,
Unfortuntately, my PC don't have an option to control fan speed in BIOS.
Just one option: "Fan always on on AC power". This machine run really
quietly. Is there anyway to check the fan speed from Linux?
Thank you
Hoang Le

Hi there,
I'm using Squeeze on HP 6930p. I notice that temperatures on Windows 7 are
much better. Currently, with only Compiz enabled, my temperatures are around
60C. I can really feel the heat under my hands.
I looked around the web for solutions but haven't succeeded yet. Installed

Dear Camaleón,
How can I know what package the bug belongs to? For now, all I know is that
that message can be found in kern.log file

Hi everybody,
Does anybody get that message with Squeeze?
My Debian is 6.0.1, 32-bit, kernel 2.6.32-5-686

Hi everybody,
I get error messages every time I hibernate my debian, something look like
"LNXPOWER failed to thaw".
Does anyone have this error?
Thank you and regards
Dear Camaleon,
unifont works perfectly.
Thank you very much
Complex fonts such as Asian fonts are not installed by defaults.
Is there any way to install all or most of them without picking individual
font?
Thank you
Hi,
When my Debian ( Squeeze ) begins to boot, I always see this message before
Plymouth actually starts
"pci :01:00.0: BAR 6: no parent found for of device"
How do I fix this?
Thank you,
Hoang Le
Thank you, it's very useful, I don't need to remember every individual
configure* command anymore.
For you, it might be best to install a package called 'configure-debian'.

I'm using default Squeeze with Gnome. I've tried SLIM login manager and want
to go back to gdm3 but don't know how to switch back. Now my debian doesn't
start any login manager, so I must start gdm3 manually from console screen.
I noticed that after installing SLIM, a window was open to select log

That's ok. gnome and gnome-desktop-environment are just meta packages.

Thank Tom, it works in term of disabling the user list. That's nice. But do
you know how to downgrade to gdm 2.20 ?

When I tried to install gdm, to replace gdm3, I got these message:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
gdm3 gnome gnome-desktop-environment
The following NEW packages will be installed:
fast-user-switch-applet gdm gdm-themes libdmx1
I think I need to do something else...
Because I like the old flat style, not this Mac-like login screen :)

Hi,
I have small problem with Plymouth on default Squeeze ( Gnome ). When I shut
down my computer, system logs out automatically before shutting down. I can
see gdm screen before shutdown splash screen is started.
Thank you!
