I know that it's not what you asked but may solve your problem.
I understand that you want to regulate the download time of your torrents
I don't know rtorrent, but there is many that you can schedule download time and
Bandwidth usage per hour, weekday, etc. (eg: Azureus)

/bin to PATH
I inserted in /etc/bash.bashrc:
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/jdk1.5.0_12/bin
it works to all terminals, but don't to X11
for example: I can't start Azureus from menu link
Then I tried /etc/profile
but it didn't work either
thanks,

Hi,
I'd like to run a command on bash console, and close the console
(ssh for example), the command still runs, and then come back and see
its results.
How is that possible?
Thanks,

I think you have to set the log level to DEBUG,
so you can see it on '/var/log/syslog'
${PROG} ... ... -j LOG --log-level DEBUG --log-prefix "Blaster portscan "

it to start as 'K99gdm'

to do this symbolic links and renaming for you
then you use, as root
'init 3' and 'init 5' to restart you X as you want

MSN messenger is a kind of virus.
It search new ports, and new login sites.
It's to difficult to block it, unless you try really hard
there's no way the firewall is blocking it by default.
Explain better your problem, only the msn is not working on windows?
show us your firewall rules, iptables -
