I have just installed Linux on my Cyrix 200-based computer with
an S3 Trio64V+ card. XF86Setup runs smoothly. Unfortunately, when
I run startx, I receive the error message:
X: exec of /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_NONE failed
xdm aborts almost immediately without telling me anything. Just typing

One of my professors is desperately seeking a place where he can rent
a notebook with GNU/Linux (Debian of preference) already installed.
Any ideas? Recommendations? Of course, he would like something in the
Boston area.

My largest partition is at /usr/local. That's why.

I have installed Linux from Debian 1.3.1/1.3.2 in a Cyrix200P-based
system. XWindows runs smoothly from the root account, but it doesn't run
at all from other accounts. In fact, even programs outside XWindows
that use graphics (such as gnuplot) will not run outside the root account.
