Hey,
I am having some difficulty connecting to Debian 11 Bullseye via VNC.
I am trying to understand the situation comprehensively.
There are many VNC servers that can be installed from apt, but you also
need a desktop environment, which can be installed from tasksel.
I see in tasksel that I al
Yes, it’s fishy and nonsensical, I encourage you not to interact with it.
Google would never intentionally send an email like that.

Hey,
I’d like to run a desktop in VNC and open GUI browsers like Firefox in it.
I succeeded in setting up the VNC server but after installing Firefox,
Chromium and Chrome I find they don’t open when I launch them.
Is this because I am root user?
Is it just because you should always run browsers
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knew a similar user email group like this one for
questions related to internet connectivity. Maybe there is a widely used
open source network software tool where people discuss network questions.
My question is about there being some relationship between certain Wi
Hey,
I tried to search for aptitude with apt-cache search aptitude and it
returned nothing. I also tried apt-get install aptitude and it said no
package was found.
I am on Ubuntu 20.
Would anyone know why aptitude is missing from my packages list?
Thanks very much,
Julius

Hi, are there any examples of a preseed file or some one willing to provide an

Thanks!
Hi folks,
I have a problem that's now beyond my expertise to fault properly. I get
random intermittent kernel errors. Usually when the system is under
stress.
System specs;
AMD X4 840 (Badged phenomii but it's really an athlon core)
ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3
2x 2GB sticks of Corsair 1600 DDR3

Do you have public keys installed on that server? If you have a key with
one password which is different from root's password on that machine, it
can explain this behavior.

Same thing here. Did you also notice that the icons appear clipped on
the panel now? I'm not sure but I bet on the GTK upgrade from a week

The package installs a mailcap entry for application/msword so you don't

Hello all,
A newbie to Linux, I installed slink a couple of months back and
shortly thereafter got a somewhat usable X-server up and running
using XF86Setup. I say 'somewhat' because although I am certain I
specified the option during installation, I was to date been unable

After converting a system from RH to Debian, I have been unable to run
WP. I get an error message that it can't find libXpm.so.4. I don't
have any difficulty finding it. It is a link to libXpm.so.4.10. Any
suggestions as to how to get WP to find the lib?

I have two systems that crash regularly while running slink. I
suspect that this is probably hardware-related, but I can't see any
evidence of it in the logs. Does anyone have any suggestions for
checking out these problems, preferably at a low level?
