So? rms does that all the time... ;-)
Got to agree about ssh, though. Much better than telnet.
Add a non-us source to your sources list and install it today!

It does, if you set the LESSCHARSET environment variable to "latin1"

The cdrom scheme allows APT to use a local CDROM
drive with media swapping. Use the apt-cdrom(8)
program to create cdrom entires in the source list.

So, the server starts ok standalone, but I suspect that something is
preventing inetd from starting the server.
I worked around this by changing the value of the variable
"$STANDALONE_OR_INETD" to "standalone" in /etc/default/pure-ftpd, and
running the server standalone

No amount of googling can dispel this mystery. I have now signed up to
the mailing list, and I hope I can find information using the
Sourceforge list search, which seems on the blink from here at the
moment.

I never found out what caused this problem. I "solved" it by
re-installing the system (ok as long as you are home sick :-) ) and
using only "stable" files.

This also occurs if I just do a "make clean && make config && make
all" in the pcmcia-cs dir.
The same problem occurs w/ an earlier version of pcmcia-source, namely
3.1.22-02potato.
I've tried Go
or the list Archives
seriously bad? I can't seem to find anything interesting...

Hi all,
I shelled out good money (Swedish) to purchase the official 2.0
distribution from Linuxpress. However, as soon as I mounted the CD to begin
the upgrade, strange things appeared when I did this:
[root]:~# mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdb /cdrom
mount: block device /dev/hdb is write-protected, mou
partition, and handles boot to Win95 from
there. Can the MBR be subverted by a virus and wreak havoc on Linux?
Regards,

I've heard a lot about Emacs 20.*. But there doesn't seem to be a
Debian package out. How come?
And don't tell me to Debiainize it myself. I haven't got that sort of
expertise...

As far as I know, the news server I'm using is standard issue.
I can read the news sucked down with the command
find /var/spool/news/comp -name '[0-9]*' -exec cat {} \; | more
but I find this a little tiring...

from source. Don't forget the imlib package.
It's a very cool package, but my small monitor doesn't do it justice.
According to the developer (http://www.rasterman.com/), the next release
will be rewritten.
