Well, I managed the dumbest: I uninstalled bash (don't ask, please
don't ask why...). Though apt complained it didn't want to...I did.
Ouch!
Well, the system really has problems without bash, and I can't get it back
on. dselect quits. apt quits. Actually, I got half way through the

Hi all. I'm making progress but still stuck setting up a printer with
debian... Right now I have magicfilter on the system and BSD style
lpr I've run through the /usr/sbin/magicfilterconig routine and set
up an appropriate filter for my printer The printer is connected to

setting up a printer in debian? I've got an O'Riely book and the debian
web page doesn't seem to have a talk about setting up a printer where it's
easy to find. Can any one point me in the right direction?

I'm pretty sure the DFE-530TX+ uses the RealTek rtl-8139 driverI have
the same card and that is what I use the DFE-530TX (notice no '+')
uses the via-rhine module (I think)... I had the DFE-530TX a year ago and
used via-rhine I moved to the DFE-530TX+ specifically to get away from
via-
