This linux box was plugged into the same LAN as our company NT Network.
It wasn't setup to access the NT Network or be involved in it. It just
get's
it's TCP/IP signal from the LAN.
My question is could this cracker get access to our NT Network from this
linux box? Could he have scanned the port
Can someone help me figure out this
"/.bash_history" from my
computer that someone cracked into and did some
damage.
I'll probably re-install the box, but I'd like to
see what they did
before I destroy it. I've attached the
"/.bash_history".

Someone hacked into my linux web server and caused some problems. I'm still
trying to figure it out. Anybody have a good link for linux security?
I'm not sure how they got in, so any suggestions would be great.

How do I ad a ntpdate line to my rc.local boot
script? I want it to
synchronize my clock everytime I boots. I
usually type:
ntpdate 140.142.16.34
at the root prompt. I can't figure out how to
put it into the startup
script.
thanks.
I mounted a new partition /hda12 and use the /home
as the mountpoint.
When I go:
mount /dev/hda12 /home
I end up with an empty directory. How do I
move the current contents
of my /home directory into the new mountpoint /home
on /dev/hda12?
thanks.
my swap partition won't be activated?

I recently checked my '/etc/fstab' and found that my swap drive does not mount
at boot. When I check with 'df' I do not see it on the printout.
I was wondering if I should ad this command in the '/etc/fstab':
/dev/hda2 none swap sw
Do you need to mount the swap partition?
