Can someone explain what the error "neighbor table overflow"
signifies, please?
Also, what about errno: 111? (from X11transSocket UNIX Connect)
I don't find either in my Linux Essential References book.
My effort to load Debian on my laptop choked on these.

Did these two steps ... make-kpkg still complains.
Ran "apt-get upgrade kernel-package"
Did this but still not the solution ... make-kpkg still complains.
I have to be missing a step here somewhere!

I found nothing new when executing the following after running
'tar -xzf linux-2.4.12.tar.gz' :
cd /
find -name kernel-image*
All it found was a bunch of old 2.2.18 stuff in /var/lib/d
7;t getting the job done.
It looks as though I need to figure out how to create a "linux-2.4.12.gz"
file from my "linux-2.4.12.tar.gz" (currently in /usr/src), in /boot for
GRUB.
Yes?
Thanks! Doc
update-grub
I don't where to place these in that file.

Nor do I know where to place these.

while processing:

Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)"
Does this mean that GDM is going to fail to reboot properly?

Or is the assumption that I can reactivate PCMCIA afterwards?
(Sure didn't work with the Progeny->Woody upgrade!)
I am going to go ahead and keep Ca

access my pcmcia nic and ADSL. Sigh.
With Progeny up I can try whatever command set seems most suitable to the
task of a kernel-woody-pcmcia upgrade that all plays nice together!

Woody instructions. That is part of my frustration, I trusted those
instructions
and they don't warn about a trashed pcmcia setup.
Thanks! Doc
Please find following the instructions from Progeny for the Woody
upgrade with the error messages received at each step.
Anyone see something exceptional?
If so what is the proper response other than proceeding on with
the install and ignoring the error messages?
Thanks! Doc

.18/pcmcia/ has a bunch of modules, including the one
I need "3c589_cs.o" but 2.2.18 is the old kernel -- I upgraded to
Woody which I imagine is 2.4.10 or something from Testing.
Did the Woody upgrade not take completely?

No joy.
Help, please?

* Used NANO again to look at the /etc/gdm.conf file. It was still empty.
* I also ran "cardctl ident" and recorded the information about my pcmcia

What else should I do prior to rebooting, please?
I sure don't want to end up without my pcmcia devices again!
Thanks! Doc
Never mind, answered my own question.
Went to:

I cannot connect to the non-us.debian.org server. Is it down?
Is there an alternative?
I am trying to upgrade from Progeny to Woody and that is one of the
two locations given for the necessary files.

ng new to my laptop.
I need to know if I can repair the damage this process did to my
pcmcia setup (3Com 589c needs to be recognized at the moment)
or if I have to again (for the third time) reinstall Progeny-Debian
from the CD and start ov
If anyone out there uses gotmail, have you been getting this error, or one

I tried
fdisk /mbr
and then reinstalled potato, installing lilo on /dev/hda1, not the MBR.
I still get that shit when I boot.

Hello all,
I need a way to clear my master boot record on my first hard disk. No
matter how much I uninstall and reinstall lilo (or potato), when I boot up,
I get
