Can't access Gnome login preference

Hi! I'm trying to access Gnome Login Window Preference from Gdm before logging to Gnome. But when i give password and hit enter to enter preference, I get blank screen and the system goes back to GDM login window. Can anyone help me detect why i can't access Gnome Login Window Preference from GDM?

Is there anyway to fix the blurriness of Gnome Logon Screen which has the same blurriness problem I was complaining about? Is Gnome Logon Screen using a diffrent refresh rate other than Gnome? I really want to dive into the freedom of linux. Please help me.

First of all thanks to you all for your time and help. I really appreciate it. The other piece of the puzzle is what graphics hardware do you have and what driver are you using? I have nVidia hardware and static image quality is the same between the free nv driver and the non-free nVidia driver

First of all a little bit of development. I changed the vertical refresh rate(on Gnome) from 50 to 57 Hz. And what you know now it is a lot better but not 100%. Now i'm using 1680x1050 resolution but LG's recommended resolution is 60 Hz. Is it possible to change vertical refresh rate to 60Hz syste

I've installed debian etch(daily built). And i gotta say it's impressive. Now i have a problem. The problem is related to the display of fonts on screen. Fonts that are displayed on screen are partly blurry and partly ok. Even the cursor is like that. Is it possible to fix this? Thanks. --David

But as i already said RC2 is on the way with lot of bugfixes, also the "netbase" package were update recently iirc, so better to wait a bit (2 or 3 weeks i guess). Thank you Thilo Six for your help. I guess I've to wait. May Debian live forever.

I was trying to install Debian Etch RC1(x86 version) using netinstaller. It downloads all the packages successfully but while installing one of those packages my computer hangs for indefinite amount of time. It displays the following at that time: Installing tcpd(displayed at top of screen)

it looks like fb_nvidia_i2c came in 2.6.12 per: http://www.mailarchives.org/list/debian-kernel/msg/2005/04040 so it should be in etch I'll try etch then. If still have the problem then will try sid. Thanks to all forum members for their help. I really appreciate it.

modprobe fb_nvidia_i2c I did exactly that it gives an error message: FATAL: Module fb_nvidia_i2c not found. I may have missed it. What kernel are you running? I'm using kernel 2.6.8-3-386

I've installed Penguin-Racer and I'm enjoying it. One little problem though. When I move a little faster all the pictures gets blurry. It's really annoying. I'm using debian sarge r4. Is there any way to find out what's causing it and then fix it? Thanks.

Whenever I browse any website, mozilla says "Resolving www.google.com" and waits for about 15 seconds to resolve the host. I've disabled ipv6 but the problem is still there. Also I've checked the isp nameserver and they are fine. Does anyone has the same problem? --David
