I had the same problem a while back, if I remember right there was a
directory that had 700 perms, i had to recursively change the

Stable is very stable...i'm learning to live with it now since last
week's mess i had with SID.
Stable for my DVR/imap/samba sever, SID/winXP on the desktop
beast...so if SID goes bonkers on me i just go back to winXP for a few
days and then run an apt update which

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. The FAT filesystem semantics aren't the same
as Unix, and it's not a very good filesystem anyway. I would leave your Unix
homedir on a Unix filesystem, and mount the fat32 partition somewhere else.
