I am running Sarge with a 2.6.8-2-k7 Kernel and I want to view/copy
the pictures on my new Canon Powershot A520 in via the USB cable and
gthumb or similar GUI.
I need advice, how do I get 'this camera' working? I have been
removing the media card and putting the card into a media reader card

I am running Sarge with a 2.6.8-2-k7 Kernel, and I have not yet
succeeded in installing Libgphot 2-2.1.6 from the .tar.gz file I
downloaded. I expanded the file into a directory and ran the install
script without it making all the changes required to use gphoto as a
GUI.
I can plug my new Canon P

Using my existing Debian Sarge desktop system with a stock 2.6.8-2-k7 kernel,
I bring up my second network card with something like:
"ifconfig eth1 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 up"
and the system hangs. Any ideas what is wrong?

Can you add a rescue system to a Grub menu? To avoid those nasty
kernel panic errors. Any thoughts on a easy rescue method? ( I have a
diskless HP evectra, HD only. ) I hoped a USB key would work but it
does not have a boot from usb device option in the BIOS.

Perfect. Replaced the USB mouse with a old serial mouse. Thanks for
the tip, I was stuck.

I installed Sarge on a HP Evectra.

When I did this I used a Logitech USB / Optical Wheel Mouse.
Took the little fellow downstairs and changed the mouse to a Logitech
two button serial mouse, D-shaped 9 pin.
Been running:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 to
Both devices browse automatically now!
Thanks

I want to activate the Automount for a USB pen drive ( also an iopd
shuffle ) using
Gnome on a Sarge system with a stock 2.6.8-2-k7 kernel. I'm looking
for the icon to appear on the desktop when I plug one of these two
into a usb port.
I have created a file called /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules
