ifconfig delay

Quick question: Does anybody know why theres a noticable pause when running ifconfig? Running Debian 1.2, theres a pause of [at a guess] a second or so before the devices are listed. I've never noticed this delay on any other Linux or Unix system.. Any takers? :) D. -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM
