question on spell checking and hyphenation

Hi, I'm looking for a command line tool which could accept a word and return all legal hyphenation points. I know, that this could be done with TeX, but parsing it's output is difficult. Is there any program which can do this? Or might there be a library which could be used? Thanks, -- cs
