Xfree4 is off the screen

im running Xfree86 and the screen is just too large looking the virtual screen that's wider than the monitor. but unlike having the virtual screen i can't scroll offscreen. i've tried to use the line "ViewPort 0 0" in subsection "display" subsection but the same thing happens. attach is my XF

eth0 unknown option

i added the line iface eth0 inet dhcp into /etc/network/interfaces and when i restart /etc/init.d/networking i says eth0 i an unknown option... i think that my ethernet card has been detected cause when i do cat /proc/pci i can see the name of my 3com mini-pci card detected. _

the kernel in the potato install didn't detect my 3com mini pci(3c556B) ethernet card on my T20, so i compiled the 2.4.1 kernel and now it detects it. but the problem is i still can't get on the net because i didn't configure networking during install... so what program can i run to configure n
