Apologies if it's a lame question: I am trying to get battstat showing
the correct current battery charge, but it's not picking up any info.
I have built ACPI and APM into my 2.6.3 kernel and I'm running Deb 3.0
testing/unstable. This is on a Toshiba Tecra M1 laptop.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi,
I am having some hassle setting up my NVidia Riva TNT PCI graphics card with XFree86

I have set up the device manually in the XF86Config-4 as a "nv" type, but when I try
to start X, it just tries to display, then retrys endlessly.
Do I need to add NVidia drivers? I noti

I have set up the Java 2 Standard Edition SDK in the /usr directory,

I think so, although all I have done is to edit:
/etc/ppp/options
/etc/ppp/chap-secrets
/etc/ppp/pap-secrets
/etc/resolv.conf
Adding the nameservers to resolv.conf

it has broken.
Please can someone help, this _must_ be a straight-forward problem! I have

Hi,
I am building a 2.4.14 kernel to use PPP (pppd) and have selected the PPP
options as modules. This is due to me installing the drivers and software
for my Alcatel USB modem. I seem to have got the USB hotplugging and syncing
of the modem working ok. I am now having problems with pppd as I have

Hi,
I have managed to get ppp compiled and installed with the kernel
modules, however, when I run pppd nothing happens! I have got it
installed (so I think) and there is nothing being written to /var/log/messages.
Firstly I build and compiled the kernel with ppp support and booted
it. I then

Hi,
Sorry for the cross posting, but I am really stuck!
I am currently setting up my Debian machine to connect to my ADSL modem for
