Sorry to dig this up, but I cant find the package that owns arc either.
searching for the package that owns that file obviously returns a million
results.
I know the answer is obvious, I just cant think what it is.

OK fair enough. so that means I can filter a .WAV through normalize before
compression - with a little trial & error.

I just set up abcde/cdparanoia/lame to rip some CDs, the problem is that some
of them turn out with very low volume.
what can I do about this?
I certainly don't want to use normalize: I want to increase the volume
uniformly across a whole cd, not just the quiet parts.

I am having a problem with netscape (communicator 1:4.77-2) that doesn't
appear in any bug reports or a quick search of the archives.
When I scroll a page up or down or select some text some of the fonts turn out
garbled.
selecting or scrolling again fixes some parts of the text but garbles
