Hi!
I am using Debian stable for some weeks now, but there still are so
many things I don't really understand, for example the installation of
debian packages. I know how to use dselect, and I can also use dpkg.
But how do I, for example, install a newer version of windowmaker or
netscape?

It turned out that I had accidentally installed some packages with
motif dynamically linked - thanks to Joe Bouchard for the tip. After
re-installing, using only statically linked versions this time, it
works perfectly.

Many thanks, Nate, I guess this will help me a lot. If the ISDN stuff
doesn't work, I will use the modem from my other PC instead.

st don't know what's wrong with my system. Maybe I messed things
up while playing with dselect, so I might try to reinstall Debian,
using only the necessary packages, not everything.
