Hello! Is there any way to prevent programs from locking the sound
device (so other programs can play sound at the same time)?
I've googled around but only found answers for OSS, I'm using ALSA 1.0.4
with a C-Media CM8738 (on board). Thanks!

Add 'exec fluxbox' (without quotes) to the last line of your .xinitrc
file (should be in $HOME/.xinitrc, if not, make one)

(see below) but alsamixer shows that their is no such device.
/proc/asound/cards shows no soundcards, I am using a stock 2.6.7-k7
kernel image. Thanks!

I remember hearing about some kind of region-lock on DVD-ROMs, maybe
this could be an example of that (although that wouldnt explain why
_some_ japanese DVDs are working...)

Hello, I am having a problem getting my Orinoco gold working under
debian. I have patched my kernel with shmoo's orinoco monitor patch and
have set up my /etc/pcmcia/* according to online docs for my laptop
(Presario 2100). When I am in the location of a known accesspoint I see
this in /var/logs/ke
cat /etc/apt/sources/list | grep -i [un]stable | awk '{ print $3}'
That should print about 4 lines, they should all say stable or unstable!

First, Take the time to read this: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
Ok, now that thats out of the way. Try the INSTALL file or the
documentation that came with the package, search around before you ask
for help.

Why not just make a new /etc/gdm/Sessions/KDE file?
I've included mine for reference.
