It doesn't :-) AFAIK this is the default behaviour when installing xserver-xorg,
although not all packages may really be needed.
While their names are all starting with xserver-xorg-, they are not different
servers: many are drivers. xserver-xorg-video-*
I just installed Wheezy on my new tower. I thought I'd install BOINC and use
some of those many CPUs for something when I'm not doing CPU-intensive work.
However, despite what it says on the Debian wiki
(http://wiki.debian.org/BOINC) none of the BOINC packages exist for Testing.

I'm sorry, I missed that point. Unfortunately I don't have any
experience with netinst: I usually install a very basic system from CD,
then I configure the network and apt and ge

Try "lspci -v". You should see your WiFi controller among other devices.

Try "modprobe " first, to see if the module
It is a far better solution to use your mobo-down 10/100/1000 port or
PCI wired NIC with a wireless access point, such as:

This architecture eliminates all potential Debian wireless NIC
headaches. It works in any mode: AP, client,
Hello Marc,
maybe this is a hardware problem? I'm not a hardware guru, but in the
past I've had problems with power supply units getting unstable and
causing the system to crash (with subsequent reboot) with no apparent
reason: replacing the power unit solved the problem. I had also

Nate,
I perfectly agree: this MS role and attitude is so deeply radicated
that, sadly, we're getting used to it, eventually forgetting its real
meaning in terms of f
In the meantime I found that the ath9k_htc driver *doesn't
support* ad-hoc mode. Unfortunately I missed this information
before opening the thread.
I didn't find more details on the rtl8192cu.
I'll get an AP and try the ath9k_htc driver in AP mode,
which seem to be supported. I will update this
I won't send them a gift but if Fedora's the only distribution to
support Secure Boot, then it's the only one that I'll recommend to
friends (independently from installing and providing support for
Debian servers at some of my jobs) because I don't want to have to
tell them "to install Linux or ev

Hello,
I'm submitting a problem regarding a wireless connection (ad-hoc)
between two computers using both a Netgear N150 WMA1000M USB adapter
(rtl8192cu chipset). Setup seem to be correct (I can detect my
neighbor's networks) but pinging and trying to ssh between my two
machines gives no resu

Hi,
I found that Lian-Li's cases are carefully built, silent, with good airflow and
beautiful design (it's brushed aluminium

Andrei,
thanks for replying; yes, you're probably right, and I'm not prone to support
conspiracy theories. But

thanks :-) Sorry for these spam-like replies, I wasn't aware of that is
Hi Gerald,
that's fine, hope it works. May I ask what are you downloading; is it a MS
tool? This interests me, in order to have several possible solutions for this
kind of issue.

Joel,
try this, HTH:
for dir in `find -maxdepth 1 -type d`; do chdir $dir/bak; mv *.yml ../..; done
Kind regards,

I've met a similar problem and it could be solved happily. You must have some
understanding of partitioning.
