Have you tried updating the firmware on the card? I've found that LSI
based cards often ship with really old firmware. For the Intel module you
listed, you should be able to download the firmware here:

Well, its either:
Trackpoint - automatic/disabled
Trackpad - automatic/disabled
Tried with trackpad disabled and enabled with no difference.
Guess the buttons could have just failed.
Will double check with that other os and replace if the same issue occurs.
