So I was running etch, needed to upgrade to use the ppu-gcc package I had, and upon reboot after an: apt-get dist-upgrade, the machine will boot, but nothing works. As far as I can tell it says something about udev failing due to kernel version issues. USB and network no longer work so I have

Hi I have been recently looking at other distros to use other than Debian. And i have also been given a new laptop for use in school which i am soon going to be running Linux on. hi I've just installed debian 5 for the second time on a macmini. It still doesn't boot, but only shows a blinking folder with an exclamation mark. Its a simple debian-only installation, no dualboot. 2 partitions: for root and swap. GRUB was installed. Any ideas? thanks in advance ben -- To U

Consider me a newbie - trying to upgrade etch to lenny, getting msg about having a non-dpkg owned copy of libc6-i686. "Can't live with it, can't live without it". Can't remove it. Can't upgrade with what I have. Previously I've done all installs and upgrades with apt-get. I started this system

I have a simple home router setup. The router runs Debian Lenny; the client runs Ubuntu. The router has two NICs; one connects to the ISP, the other to an internal switch. The router box has no network issues with the Internet. I can ping, surf websites, etc.. The client box has no problems
