Hi all!
I have some trouble making my usb sound card work as I would like. My
laptop also has a built-in sound card that works ok, but has _very_
_limited_ input sound quality.
What is the proper way to set up and configure sound/alsa on debian etch?
According to the fine manual [1] there's a sc

If you don't want to have your kernel upgraded automatically then install the

Oh, I forgot: I'm using etch.
I've already reinstalled alsa-base and alsa-utils. The most interesting
thing is that after the etch install alsa worked just fine.
Unfortunately I could not recall when the problem arise - chances are
that the problem ari

Are you using Sarge or Etch?
It sounds like you have a problem with your install. You only need to run
alasaconf once and it saves the configuration. After that you only need to run
alsaconf if you change your sound card or add one.
Try using apt-get to purge alsa-base and alsa-utils. Clear a
On Sarge, I can sync Palm IIIxe with Evolution via Gnome Pilot applet,
but I use serial connection only. Perhaps, you could use pilot-link to
find out if the problem is with kpilot or the connection itself. I
recall some problems when I could backup my Palm with pilot-xfer, but
not with any GUI to

Dear Debianists/jigdo people,
As I mentioned in earling postings the files on the DVD images and CD images
do not seem to be a perfect match.
Using DVD#1 of Etch RC1 to make CD#3 of Etch Rcd1 using jigdo I once again
found that a few files were missing from the DVD and jigdo had to collect

Hi,
May I know where to find information about how to use
/etc/alternatives/ when developing a debian package?

Hi,
Suppose there exists large-company.com and
branch1.large-company.com. Both are producing "local packages"
which may conflict with each others.
Question:
Is it OK to use /opt/com/large-company/ and
/opt/com/large-company/branch1/ for local packages?
Or should /usr/local/com/large-company/ and

Hi list,

when restarting the server because on stop it gets corrupted. I have
