A couple of points regarding this solution: * seems to be a system-wide fix so all users are forced to use firefox * if firefox is already open, a new window doesn't pop up when you click on a link in an email. This can be annoying if the browser is on a different desktop! Any ideas anyone?

smart package manager

There is talk about the smart package manager.  It claims it will handle package managing better than APT.  Is this true or propaganda?  If it is true, will there be a future switch from APT to this SMART?  Could it be a potential etch +1 goal?  Just wondering.

In the xorg update there was an advice to save the files in /usr/X11R6 so the bin directory could be replaced with a softlink to /usr/bin. Once this had been done the programs that were in usr/X11R6/bin could be moved to /usr/bin and the other files & directories could be moved back to /usr/X11R6.
