Dear Debian Users,
how can i enable "normal" users to dialout, for example with wvdial ? I
configured KDE ---> System ---> User Manager ---> Groups/dialout but it
still don't work. I used pppconfig (with "pon") and even tried to
dialout with Kppp. No reaction. What else can i do

The vmlinuz in / is just a symlink to the real file and is not needed.

I note that the kernel is trying to load /dev/hda4 as the root partition. I'm
not familiar with the grup notation but is:
hd0,3 => hda3 or hda4.

I suspect there is some missing dependency problem. Unfortunately
apt-get isn't very good about identifying the specifics of these. You

Thank you, the moving the .REAL command fixed it. I was able to
configure my printer
Now I have to start tracking down little problems...like my audio and
upgrading the kernal so I can use the latest nvidia drivers...

In your home directory, have a shell script named ".bash_logout" with
the "clear" command in it.

the concole goes crazy. It starts printing new line
and the screen jumps from black to white and back to

I just wanted to make sure that my menu.lst looks good for grub. I wouldn't
want it to fail and not be able to load any operating system. I have two
