A deb package is a ar (shell archive) file. "ar -x" will unarchive it.
You can do this in a temporary directory and select files to your
desire.

environment variable set to /usr/man:/usr/share/man. Now, under
/usr/share/man/man1 I have makeindex.1.gz. However, when I type "man

I am having a problem connecting to my provider via ppp.
When I run my pon script, my modem dials, connects
to the modem pool but I never receive an ip address. My first concern
is that I see ppp0 as a device (ifconfig) even before my modem connects
