ppp interface already dead, or can the network still
be used from that script? The man page for pppd
isn't explicit about it, but it sounds like it might
be too late already.

Actually, the point was that when proxied, wget decends through the
parents, and when not proxied it doesn't. I'm suspecting something to do
with squid, but I'm not sure what I should look for, since I don't know

When I first mess around with multi boot, I mucked up the MBR
as well.
One solution was to boot up the system with a DOS bootup disk,
and runt "fdisk /mbr". That will put DOS back in control however.
