In my limited experiance I must say that the ALSA approach worked much
smoother and easier than the OSS eqvivliant. Thats with my Awe 64 ISA PNP
and I even got it working with two soundcards at the same time, thats hard
to do (if not impossible) with the OSS modules.

I have purchased several "hub kits" at 100Mb that sold for the same
price as 10Mb kits (same number of ports/same brand). I suspect that
from a manufacturing standpoint that the 10Meg stuff is "obsolete".

I had difficulty with WP8 printing m'self. The way I forced it to work
was by using Passthrough Postscript to the postscript driver for the
network's HP LaserJet 4000N. This is my preferred method since almost
anything will happily print Postscript.

I've changed a few monitor definitions, and the
best i now get when i run startx is

Before the error message it self, the screen is

I'm trying to package a .deb. I have read and followed the docs and the
HOWTOs. I must be missing something. I get a error 1 when running rules
script. Can someone point me to a nice tutorial on the web or give me some
helpful hints? Is there a generic way to build .debs?

Well a lot anyways. I wanted to tryout xdm, so I dselected it, ran it
manually, and it worked. I purged it, installed gdm to check that out,
it didn't work (somthing about no display configured, I didn't feel like
messing with it). I purged gdm to try wdm, that "ran" but obviously
wasn't affect

I did dselect upgrades on my potato system yesterday. After that ps
outputs looks like crap. To much space between each data field so that one
entry takes up several lines.
tkps (and other process tools) now needs a 3 feet wide window to show
proecesses! ;)

unfortunate experiences with windows. I too am in the process of weaning
myself from windows, but as I noted before, there are still too

standard IP masquerading setup... I can recieve dcc's, but can't send... is
