There ARE dos clients packaged with Windows NT Server, however. I'm no
fan of windows, and I am not defending it, I just believe in giving
correct information whenever possible.

installed it. Then I set it up with netscape as per instructions. (It didn't
come with the .class files for the plugin; so I had to get those from the
.tgz archive).

Use pppconfig to setup the file for your ISP.
Give it a name, say File, then in shell do 'pon File'.
You should hear click as your modem initializes. TO monitor the modem
progress (connection, and such), use 'plog'

I assume you are using pppconfig to set up the dialing. When it asks for
a name for the connection give it a name. After everything else is OK
type this at a root prompt: pon (where XXX is the name you gave the
connection) and your modem should start-up.

and hamm as current. I used slink base disks and then selected "current"

I upgraded from kernel 2.0.34 to kernel 2.2.4 which came on my
Debian-CDs. Now printing has stopped. I compiled lp and parport
as modules, changed the printcap to point to /dev/lp0 instead of

My machine using potato is configured so that the xscreensaver turns on
when I am inactive. However there are other times when I use xlock to
lock the display manually. When I do this xscreensaver kicks on and I
