I would say yes.. if you "other laptop" works fine in other endpoints.
You can try replaceing the patch cord with a new one. Also if you are in a
building with pre-existing wiring, you might want to look at distances. I

repair, and make fully functional. My desire was to install Linux on the unit
and adapt it as an Intranet/Internet Web Server.

wire. Same amount of packet loss.
Do I conclude that it's either my hub or the wires?

it not wiring or a bad port form the hub? It would just be a quick check
to make sure you are not spinning your wheels on the IRQ problem. You
could have a bad cable or be out of range. At any rate, just my $.02.

One thought - have you got a cd player on your desktop? Some of them

2.2.1 now ) it complains that it cannot find a lilo signature on my
sda2.
Funy thing is lilo runs fine invoked manually, and sda2 is the boot

I fixed my local mail and retrieval of ISP mail.
added / changed local domains (were not set properly by eximconfig,
probably a type-o by me)
that took care of local mail.
found out that there is no cron job for exim -bd, (DOH!) it helps to be
running your mail daemon. I am not sure why there
