Sounds like he needs a boot floppy with iso9660 support compiled in. Why it's not there to begin with is beyond me. This seems like a really common problem with Debian installs. Someone needs a custom boot floppy in order to get their SCSI controller to work or their CD drive, or whatever. I re

I had my printer working just fine. I had to go an screw around with it; I recompiled my kernel to eliminate the scsi options I'm not using, and now my printer prints jibberish (wierd incomprehensible characters). Can someone help me with this. I think it has something to do with the kernel/

mailcap changed

This weekend I made an update via dftp. I also upgraded to mutt 0.95.1i which is in slink. Now my /etc/mailcap has changed. There are no more text/* entries. eg. text/html Any idea how theu disapeared and how to get them back? Stef

system frequently screws up when printing

Hi, when I try to print to my HPdeskjet 890 (attached to /dev/lp1) the system frequently locks up after printing some lines and I have to reboot the system. No obvious log entry. Any hints what to do? I have a Dual Pentium II machine, Debian Hamm, lprng 3.4.2-5 and Linux version 2.0.35 installed

Printing problems

Hi I haven't made any changes to my printing setup but all of a sudden I have started getting this error when trying to print no connect permissions I am using Debian 2.0 upgraded to Slink and I do an update by APT every week. My last update was yesterday perhaps this may have casued the problem
