I recently had to reinstall Debian 2.0, and wanted to update back to
Slink. I Dselected from Debian's ftp site, and installed, and got
the mother of all dselect error messages. I thought, since I had had a
very intermittent connection, that perhaps some of the .debs might have
been corrupted

I am trying to compile a testing version of exim on my Debian/hamm
system. This particular exim version happens to be the first version
that uses embedded perl. The compile fails because I don't have gdbm
installed on my system. exim itself is configured to use dbm and
doesn't need gdbm.

You must set up which device its on. You can find this out by looking in
dmesg. They are looking for something like /dev/hdb, /dev/hdc etc, based
on where your cdrom is located on the machine.

Do you have gs (or preferably gs-aladdin) installed? That is necessary
for the man -t output to print, since -t converts it to PostScript.
Keep at it and you will soon learn the Unix/Linux commands. Most of us

error. With you and Bob's hint I tried ' man printcap|lpr ' it works.
Printing perfectly without any stepping at all.

Thank you for your suggestion. I've solved my printing problem from
the hints given by Bob and
Hernan.
There is a dj550c-filter in the magicfilter package from Debian and
replace the last command with '
default text ' as instructed by the installer and that is it
I had the same problem before. After that I used Getright (in Win95) to
download it or
as Bob said use an FTP client if you are familiar with the FTP software.
