an NT 4.0 machine for a dialup server. When I dial in to the NT machine,
there is often a delay of up to 30 seconds before I can connect to the
Linux box. I can ping other machines on the LAN right away, however.

am interested in anything like this for mailing and posting control. It
wouldn't bother me a bit if the non-linux users had to use local dialup to
send mail or news. They can wait for Microsoft to give them a new mail

Now it's working again. I have the advantage that I can boot off
of the Slackware root filesystem, and make changes. Unfortunately
I still don't know what, if anything, I did to get it to stop
locking. I am using /dev/psaux for the mouse, and /dev/ttyS1 for
