although I don't own a cdrom drive with a proprietary interface I think
that the key might be to give the "coordinates" of the drive (i.e. io
port and interrupt) at boot time.
Unfortunately I lack the knowledge to be more precisely. Perhaps someone
else can shed more light on this!?!

I have just manage to boot and load the base system (debian 1.2) on a
ThinkPad 760E, which doesn't boot from standard rescue floppy.
I build a zImage (2.0.27) and replace the linux on the rescue floppy
with it. Then I mounted /dev/fd0 on /mnt and did
rdev /mnt/linux /dev/ra
When I tried to install postres95 I received the following error messages:

ftp-nog.rutgers.edu and tried again, and voila seyon came down. I

on my hard drive. The dos partition is on a second drive which is a
SCSI drive; the first drive is an IDE drive. The dos partition is

JetDirect's work fine with the Debian/Linux lpr package). What you need
