It's been a while since I wrote about this but it's been a tough week. I
repeat my problem.
I'm trying to install debian linux on my computer. It works fine until I'm
supposed to partition my hard drive. Then fdisk complaints that it can't
seek on it. This is the message I get:

For a quick fix, a provided you have a backup to boot dos, reboot
under drive a: for dos, get onto the c: drive, and run "fdisk /mbr". This
will restore the c: disk so that it will boot dos automatically.

I built a new kernel (2.0.29) and copied it from arch/i386/boot
to /boot.
I then made a sym link zImage->/boot/zImage.
Next I ran lilo which is were I had a total brain failure.
I built the kernel above on my P90 for a 386.

Thanks for responding. I guess that boot-up message and devices list
should have given me a clue.
There is no /dev/sr0, so I used mknod to make one doing
mknod sr0 b 11 0

Is anybody using a UPS with debian who would care to email how they
are faring?
Is APC a good UPS to buy? Do I need a special cable? And how should I
go about sizing the UPS (I mean, do I need a 200W UPS if the power
supply of my box is 200W)?
