Note that cantor-backend-sage doesn't work with the SageMath package right now
due to #972346. Although caused by a change in Sage, I think it should be
quite easy to work around in Cantor. Indeed, replacing
/usr/share/cantor/sagebackend/cantor-execsage with just
#!/usr/bin/sage --sh
exec sage-ip
Installing a different sddm theme package and switching to it should
resolve this.

The title says it all. the kde-base install does not make any attempt to undo
the gnome spaghetti so that kdm can run. The Debian soft links and other
indirections for the start up of gnome are so baroque that
Any progress on this? I still get .ogg files opening in Xine rather
than Audacious every time shared-mime-info is updated and have to patch
it, which gets rather annoying.

As the title says. libgs8 is not present in sid (at least for amd64 and
i386); thus, libspectre1 cannot be installed. (I wouldn't care except
that Evince depends on libspectre1.)

Currently the files in /usr/share/qt4/doc/qch are in SQLite format 3.

1. If a person hasn't run a KDE4 session at least once, Qt doesn't know
where to find phonon's plugins.
2. For some reason the "4.4\libraryPath" entry is getting flooded with
repetitions. A new pair appears each time a KDE4 session starts.

Qt needs to
be more selective about which plugins it has access to when it's running
in a non-KDE environment.
I tried Vincent's suggestion about a symlink just for phonon_backend.
That gets me audio and Qt's normal widget behavior.
