Personally, I don't plan to put any time into Plasma 5 until after Kf5 is in
Unstable (which means Qt 5.4.2 in Unstable).

After a recent system update My SDDM screen lost its image and became all gray.
I checked:
/usr/share/sddm/themes/debian-maui/theme.conf
It listed the background file:
