excessive dependencies

I was trying out a wide range of calculator programs and wanted to try out kcalc but when trying to install it, I was alerted that it would need to install 70+ dependent packages. Now I may be just be a simple country hyperchicken but I know know when something is just plain wrong. It seems to me
