seems to be related to type 3 fonts.
We had the same bug on stable and also on oldstable after installing the
new security patch.
But after installing the package cm-super pdflatex was able to generate
pdf files with type 1 fonts which are now rendered properly with xpdf or
okular.
The prob
Just a note: #886798 seems to describe the same problem for oldstable.
