I see this in KatePart 3.4, KDE 4.4.5. The editor deletes the text that is selected when it receives focus. The issue seems to be related to IBus, and with IBus running (with any input method, enabled or disabled) I'm able to consistently reproduce the behavior. Upstream has a report of this b
