It seems some changes have been made on version 4:5.27.8-1 that have broken
sddm.

I compiled adwaita-qt and tryed it, but I have to say I
find it uglier than the gtk style. The fonts don't quite work in my
opinion... and I quite like the normal gnome3 apps, like gedit, etc, so
I don't have an issue with the gnome3 look.

the need of installing more additional packages ? And for the style, the
user will have to compile or get one from somewhere else, correct ?
