As far as I understood the issue, the problem is that no /usr/bin/ps2pdf is
available.
gs-common provides several similar commands:
gs-common: usr/bin/ps2pdf12
gs-common: usr/bin/ps2pdf13
gs-common: usr/bin/ps2pdf14
gs-common: usr/bin/ps2pdfwr

My problem was logged in ~/..xsession-errors and was "could not find
file: /etc/X11/Xsession"
Looiking at /etc/X11/ I only found /etc/X11/Xsession.d with several file
inside.

on my phone..
The only way to make them work was to subsitute the png image with a jpeg
one..

I tried to compile your packages on an amd64 arch and got this error while
building kdebase:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/libGL.a(glapi.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a
local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with
-fPIC /usr/lib/libGL.a: could not read
source/
(You can browse it of course..)
