The GNU GSL, upon which your package as a build- and run-time dependency, had
a 2.0 release [1] which introduced minor incompatibilities with the previous
(1.6) release. I had left the package for many years at libgsl0ldbl because
such a transition was never needed

Just wanted to pitch in that the bug is still present in kdm 3.5.1-1 in
testing where it bit me on a recent upgrade. I tried just about everything:
xorg reconfigure, fiddling with console-data et al, no luck. Given that gdm
and xdm has keyboard input on reboot, and kdm had it provided I first boot
