Further confirmation from Debian 8/Jessie - on a default install using DVD #1 and KDE as only installed UI. Only tweaks to system are changes to colour schemes etc and a couple of startup services to do innocuous things like hdparm and set kdecache to /tmp Logout from the Launcher kills X and drop
