following an advice I got on irc I moved .kde* away, out of my ~
dir. But this didn't help, konqueror still doesn't know the protocol
"file" (according to a message box that pops up when I try to show a directory):

smb:/ but when I try to use the smbmount function to mount the share,
it says unable to...
I've done chmod +s /usr/bin/smbmount and smbumount .. still no joy.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? If I run smbmount //server/share
