Open Editor from the right-click menu of the KGpg applet menu does not
work but the editor can be launched indirectly by decrypting the
clipboard if you have a valid encrypted block to copy. The Editor then
works normally,

The problem seems to have gone away, however as it wasn't documented in a
change log I'm a little worried that it might crop back up. If you want to
close it that is fine by me.

With gdm 2.4.4.x, the /etc/gdm/Sessions dir is no longer used. The new
way to register as a Session to both kdm and gdm is to place a Gnome/KDE
style .desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions. Users can create their own
sessions in /etc/dm/Sessions.
