Attempting to reproduce this in current LibreOffice in Debian results

I had the same trouble before. Toggling of the "Drawing toolbar" or moving it a
bit fixed the error. You might try moving / hiding any other toolbars that are
docked to the bottom the screen.
Alternatively, redefine the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F t o be Find and Replace
and it will work as in pr
