I also experienced this bug.
After reading about this bug on the web, I understood it was a stale
configuration problem. I noticed this warning each time ooffice was run:
$ooffice
Upgrading script.xlc to correct path...

When I first attempt to save a file using any openoffice.org 1.1 application,
it gives me a series of 18 pop-up errors regarding missing files. The program
appears to be looking for BASIC files in /usr/lib/openoffice1.1 when those
files are actual
