I confirm the problem exists. My locale is set to zh_CN.UTF-8.
However, if I set my locale to en_US or C, openoffice.org starts up without
the problem. Thus that's the work-around so far.

Due to bug no 189944 (tagged unreproduceable now) I reported, I'm trying to
run OOo 1.1beta2.
After installation, I run "ooffice1.1" at the command line for the first time.
After reporting setup complete, it lauches openoffice.org. Then an empty
