OOo does load the .sxi file if you set LD_BIND_NOW=1, as far as I can
see it looks ok, but you might want to test if it doesn't crash later
on.
This problem is a bit bigger than just this instance, and it isn't fixed
in -7 yet. Hope this workaround helps tho.

In my own experience, the problem with different displays can be a font
problem (xfs, different fontpath, the usual). You might also consider
looking at that when/if it happens again.

do you see this ? I tried LD_DEBUG=files openoffice file.doc,
and I don't see anything failing there. Debian ppc sid with libc6 2.2.5-14.3
The file type menu was populated with items. I'm running ooqstart, fwiw.
